CHECK WEIGHT Horse Float Weighing
CHECK WEIGHT – has developed a specific weighing service for horse owners to weigh their vehicles and horse floats.
Horse floats (and the tow vehicles) come under the same weight limits as caravans, however many owners don’t understand these limits.
Having an overloaded vehicle and/or horse float, not only puts you at risk of a fine but could result in loss of control and an accident.
A badly loaded horse float can make it more difficult to recover from an emergency situation resulting in you ending up in the ditch.
Don’t put the health and well being of yourselves and your horses at risk by travelling overloaded.
Travel Safe (and legal)

Five Reasons Why You Should Get your Horse Float and Tow Vehicle Weighed with CHECK WEIGHT
Get peace of mind knowing your Horse Float and tow vehicle weights are under the legal limits. Know and understand your GVM, GTM, ATM & GCM. Save yourself a hefty fine and loss of points on your licence.
Incorrect loading or being overweight can lead to sway and make it more difficult to recover the vehicle in an emergency situation. High winds, slippery roads, rough roads or a B Double truck passing you can upset the handling of a vehicle and horse flolat. By starting off balanced you will have a better chance of staying out of the ditch.
When you buy a horse float, the dealer doesn’t show you the weight balance of the float. So when loading the float you are guessing where to load and keep the float evenly loaded. By weighing each wheel of the horse float – Check Weight can give you all the information on wheel, axle and side to side weights, so you can correctly load your horse float. And a well balanced horse float is easier to tow.
Too much weight in the vehicle and horse float can affect the vehicles performance, using more fuel and wearing components. An unbalanced vehicle and float means the vehicle (and you) work harder. Check Weight often has comments from clients saying the horse float is easier to tow after getting the weight right – and as a driver they are less tired whilst driving.
As the all the acronyms (GCM, GTM, ATM & GCM) are legal limits imposed by the vehicle and trailer manufacturers, exceeding these limits is illegal and can put you at risk of a fine, loss of warranty if something breaks, and loss of insurance if being overweight contributed to an accident. That can be very costly !
To avoid all of this, it is important to weigh your horse float (and your entire rig) correctly, before leaving for your next holiday.
