Most caravan owners have at some time experienced a little bit of caravan sway. – It can be scary! And sometimes it can end up in you being in an accident. Maybe it was in windy conditions, on a slippery road or just when you were overtaken by a B-Double.
But what caused it ? Sway can be caused by a number of things: Here are some weight related causes.
- Incorrect loading of vehicle or caravan
- Bad Balance – too much weight on one side of caravan or vehicle
- Too much weight on the rear of vehicle
- Too much weight on rear of caravan
- Low tow ball weight – ie: caravan too light at front
Correct loading of your tow vehicle and your caravan can help prevent caravan sway – keep you on the road and out of the ditch!
